A world we can not see!
The Bible says that God is Spirit and that true worship has to come from the Spirit (John 4:24). All life comes from the Spirit of God. He gives a spirit to each person and, when the Spirit goes away, we die.
When we are separated from God, because of sin, our spirit suffers, because it needs God. When we repent and we believe in Jesus, the Holy Spirit will live within us, joining our spirit (Acts of the Apostles 2:38). So it is through the spiritual world that we find union with God and with all other believers in the world, who share the same spirit! The devil is an angel who rebelled against God, along with several other angels, which we call demons. In the spiritual world, the angels and the demons are in struggle. The demons try to influence our spirit, to destroy us and make suffer, but the angels seek to help and defend us.
We all have a choice: stay on the side of God or the devil. We need to fight against evil influences and submit to the Spirit of God (James 4: 7). To this fight we call spiritual battle. The spiritual world has a lot of influence on our lives!
We can not repair, but what happens in the spirit world affects everything. First, the decision to believe in Jesus is an act in the spiritual world. Our spirit is restored to communion with God! It is through the power of your spirit that God guarantees us resurrection and eternal life. When our spirit is transformed by Jesus, this transforms all our lives. The Holy Spirit begins to change our thoughts, desires and actions. The fight against our sinful nature begins in the spirit (Galatians 5:16). The work that happens in our spirit influences everything.
The spiritual world can also negatively affect us. We need to be careful not to submit to evil influences (1 Peter 5: 8-9). Some serious problems, without physical or mental explanation begin to allow for wrong spiritual influence on our lives. To avoid this influence, we must reject all sin and always seek the will of God. Heads up! The spiritual world is an important side of our lives but we should not despise the other sides. Each part is important and we need to find balance, so we do not get obsessed with one side or forget another. The spiritual, the mental and the physical are all interconnected (1 Thessalonians 5:23)
